Today our team met at Forestview Community Church to "practise pack". Laid out on tables were math flash cards, baseball caps, word wall kits for classrooms, soccer balls, gift envelopes for children our congregation sponsor, t-shirts, running shoes, alphabet sets and teaching resources.
As I looked out across the tables I prayed that God would help us to pack what was most needed and leave behind what was not useful for the Ugandan setting.
We also worked on putting together our presentation materials in coil booklets. I prqyed over these booklets as we put them together. Each of our team has poured heart and soul into these booklets. I asked God to help us to be good listeners , observers and encouragers to the staff we meet. Also I asked that He would help us to hold our presentation material loosely and that we would go in with the attitude of serving the staff there as best we can We are excited about all that you are up to God! ..Thanks to Tracy Mumford for her help in putting these packages together. It was much appreciated. These too had to be packed.
We worked hard at packing bags and weighing them to make sure we were not over the weight limit. When we were - we pulled items out and tried to get to the correct weight. Needless to say we did a lot of packing and unpacking. The room was an excited buzz of activity and everything began to fall into place both literally and figuratively. By the time we were finished we had filled 9 suitcases.
Wow! So many things with a real tangible outpouring of love for those in Uganda. Thank you for the many ways you encouraged and supported our team. You have sent things for those in Uganda, donated money, prayed for us, loaned us luggage, offered rides to and from the airport etc. We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful community of family and friends around us. We are indeed grateful and you have made it so much easier to get ready for this trip. We thank God for you.
